There's something surreal about going on a solo holiday as a female, but in March 2024, I did exactly that - I took the plunge and went on my first ever solo trip to Magaluf - and it was exactly what I needed.
After months of grey skies and chilly mornings, I found myself yearning for the Balearic sunshine, sipping frozen yoghurt, dancing with strangers, and soaking up a new Spanish city. All whilst finding myself, and working on my inner-happiness on my first solo-holiday.
Where Did I Stay in Magaluf?

HSM Sandalo Beach is where I lay my pretty little head every night. This bright, light and airy hotel is perched above Magaluf’s sparkling coastline, with clear and dazzling views along the coast. It was the perfect base for my mini adventure: close enough to the nightlife and beach, but tucked away enough to be quiet and relaxing.
Every morning, I started my day with a lovely cuppa at Robinson Cursoe’s - they had some really cute teapots and large mugs, perfect for my British caffeine fix. The cafe is right by the beach and serves up all the feel-good favourites - and to my delight, I had an amazing view of topless beach volleyball (this was pre-Charlie, no judgement please).

Cutest Little Day Trip to the City of Palma...
One of the best parts of the trip was our day trip to Palma. The city surprised me in the best way - elegant architecture, beautiful old streets, and the perfect mix of culture and coastal too.
I wandered through the peaceful Jardine del Huerto del Ray, admired the grandeur of Palacio Real de La Almadaina, and even popped into the charming Train Soller Station, which felt like stepping into a vintage postcard.
Luckily, I went in March, which was the beginning of the season, so it was quieter than I anticipated. However, I’d dread to think of how busy it gets in peak season. Although, in true British-ness, I was still SWEATING and fully topped up on factor-50.
Before heading back to Magaluf, I cooled down with some seriously tasty frozen yoghurt at Yomato - creamy, delicious, and loads of toppings to choose from. I can honestly say this was the BEST frozen yoghurt I’ve ever tasted. The only flaw is that there was no outside seating to enjoy my yog - but still the perfect experience regardless.

Shagaluf...I mean Magaluf...
As for the nightlife…well, Magaluf delivered…but not in the way I was expecting!
Peaky Blinders Bar was a total gem - quirky, cosy, girly, and the cocktails were BEAUTIFUL. They have this pink ‘Instagram’ area with neon lights and a pink swing, sign me up - the vibe was just spot on!
But the real highlight? A spontaneous night out that ended up with me crashing a hen party and belting out karaoke with the bride’s grandmother on top of a table until 5am. Let’s just say my rendition of ‘Baby’ by Britney Spears might still be echoing in someone’s Instagram story.
Are you ready for the twist? Shagaluf has this party reputation, but since it was the start of the season, I was surrounded by loads of families (most with young children), the majority of the night. So if you’re looking for a party weekend with the girls/guys, or going with your family, there is something for everyone!
What's the Takeaway?
Magaluf has a mix of beach, city life, good food, and belly laughs. Would I go back? ABSOLUTELY! Would I take Charlie? MAYBE - I don’t think he’d appreciate the topless volleyball.
Love what you see?
